Brief Art 2010 in February was a great success and raised £9,000 during the weekend. The Event was well supported and it was both enjoyable and fun.

We would like to thank our Sponsors, Milsted Langdon, Chartered Accountants and Courtyard Framing, Minehead for their support also Hestercombe Gardens Trust for allowing us the venue and to the staff for all their help.
A very important 'thank you' to all the artists who contributed; the standard was excellent. We would also like to thank all the stewards who helped in many ways.

With contributions of over 700, not every picture was sold. In Brief Art 2008 four large collages were put together and special frames were made and they hang in the New Build of St Margaret's Hospice in Taunton. This time we have put together a couple of Albums and they will go into both the Reception area of St Margaret's Hospice Yeovil and also in the new St Margaret's Hospice Furniture shop in Bridge Street Taunton. The new Furniture shop is opposite the main St Margaret's Shop just below the bridge. Each painting will be £10. These are originals painted by well known artists, celebrities and amateurs. These paintings will not be incognito. With your purchase you will get whatever information we have about the artist and a 15% discount voucher to have your picture framed by Courtyard Framing in Minehead.

This unusual event provides an opportunity to buy original work by professional artists, students and amateurs, and some celebrities for no more than the price of a print. The organisers hope to have at least 1000 pieces of original, post card size, art work, each to be sold for £30.00.

Hestercombe's Coutyard Cafe will be open during the Brief Art event for morning coffee and afternoon tea with a full lunch menu including daily specials. The world-famous Gardens are open from 10.00am until 5.00pm giving Brief Art visitors the opportunity to enjoy a full day out.
Pick up a leaflet from the Hospice shops (or the exhibition itself) and take advantage of the 2 for 1 offer to tour the gardens on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February 2010.

The task of sourcing the work began in January 2009, and this has been by personal contacts, visiting art groups, contacting Art Colleges, schools and the many artists who participate in Somerset and Dorset Arts Weeks. The organisers have been busily networking for the past year or so and many good friends and interesting acquaintances have been made on the way.

The response to our plea has been wonderful. Seeing the work sent in, in many media, many styles and subjects, has been a joy and a most exciting experience. We are hugely grateful to all the artists who have given time and thought to this rather unusual idea, and we thank them most sincerely for their generous support.
