This unusual event provides an opportunity to buy original work by professional artists, students and amateurs, and some celebrities for no more than the price of a print. The organisers hope to have at least 1000 pieces of original, post card size, art work, each to be sold for £30.00. Hestercombe's Coutyard Cafe will be open during the Brief Art event for morning coffee and afternoon tea with a full lunch menu including daily specials. The world-famous Gardens are open from 10.00am until 5.00pm giving Brief Art visitors the opportunity to enjoy a full day out. Pick up a leaflet from the Hospice shops (or the exhibition itself) and take advantage of the 2 for 1 offer to tour the gardens on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February 2010. |

The task of sourcing the work began in January 2009, and this has been by personal contacts, visiting art groups, contacting Art Colleges, schools and the many artists who participate in Somerset and Dorset Arts Weeks. The organisers have been busily networking for the past year or so and many good friends and interesting acquaintances have been made on the way. The response to our plea has been wonderful. Seeing the work sent in, in many media, many styles and subjects, has been a joy and a most exciting experience. We are hugely grateful to all the artists who have given time and thought to this rather unusual idea, and we thank them most sincerely for their generous support. |
